    Poor lubrication accounts for 36 % of the causes of premature failure of conical roller bearings. Universal grease can not meet the needs of a variety of special bearing applications. The use of only one or more common grease to meet all bearing applications will cause problems that will far exceed the benefits of the uniform brand. Bearing application conditions are very diverse, correct lubrication is to require lubrication grease and bearing application conditions match.

    Bearing grease is the basis for ensuring that the bearings are stable, secure and have maximum reliability, even under the most extreme operating conditions. The grease prevents pollutants from entering the bearing, cushioning the impact load and preventing corrosion. Selection of suitable grease is the basic condition for maximum service life of bearing.

    The criteria for the correct selection of lubricants include the type and size of conical roller bearings, temperature, speed, load, and expected service life and supplementary lubrication cycle.

    The initial radial clearance of the bearing is gradually reduced during the push process, and the size of the push quantity determines the degree of cooperation. Therefore, the initial radial clearance of the conical roller bearing must be measured before installation. The radial clearance is continuously measured during the thrust process of the bearing until the required radial clearance reduction and the ideal excess fit are achieved.

    Because the temperature is affected by lubrication, speed, load, and environment, the median value of the table only indicates the approximate temperature range. The role of lubrication of bearings has an important impact on the fatigue life and friction, wear, temperature rise, vibration of rolling bearings. Without normal lubrication, bearings can not work. Analyzing the cause of damage of cone roller bearings, it is shown that the damage of about 40 tins of bearings is related to poor lubrication. Therefore, the good lubrication of conical roller bearings is an effective measure to reduce friction and wear. The role of bearing lubrication can be briefly explained as follows:

    A. The two surfaces are separated by a layer of oil between the two rolling surfaces or sliding surfaces in contact with each other, reducing friction and wear on the contact surfaces.

    B. When using oil lubrication, especially when using cyclic oil lubrication, oil mist lubrication and oil injection lubrication, lubricant can take away most of the friction heat inside the bearing and play an effective heat dissipation role.

    C. When grease lubrication is used, it can prevent external foreign matter such as dust from entering the cone roller bearing and play a closed role.

    D. Lubricants have the effect of preventing metal rust.
